Pat Buchanan

About Pat Buchanan

b. Florida, USA. This Nashville, Tennessee-based session guitarist has worked with a wide range of recording artists, including Cameo, Dixie Chicks, Jeff Finlin, Travis Tritt, and Kim Richey. Growing up in a musical household (his father played bass in jazz bands while his mother is a singer), Buchanan was playing guitar from an early age. He graduated from the bar band circuit to join US soul funk band Cameo during their mid-80s peak. After Cameo, the guitarist was hired as a touring musician by pop acts such as Hall And Oates and Cyndi Lauper before breaking into the Nashville session scene in the mid-90s. Buchanan found plentiful work as one of the new breed of musicians from pop backgrounds helping shake up the traditional Nashville country sound, although he is also part of the city’s burgeoning power pop scene, recording and touring with his own guitar band the Idle Jets.
