Nancey Jackson

About Nancey Jackson

Another of the '90s vocalists walking the fine line between gospel and soul (thanks to the success of Kirk Franklin), Nancey Jackson found success with the house vibe of her 1997 single "Free (Yes I'm Free)." A singer with similarities to Loleatta Holloway and Tramaine Hawkins, Jackson first recorded for Savoy in 1991. She also did session work as a backup vocalist during the mid-'90s, and signed to Harmony Records. Her second album, also titled Free (Yes I'm Free), was released in late 1997; Relationships followed two years later. ~ John Bush
