About Michael J McEvoy

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. The first record that ignited my passion for music was Edgar Winter's 'Frankenstein'. I was 9. I bought the 7" single with my pocket money, and being rather naive about vinyl, I left it sitting on a radiator and it melted - so had to buy it again. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Earth, Wind & Fire, All 'N All Michael Jackson, Off the Wall Weather Report, Heavy Weather (Bonus Track Version) These 3 albums were my teachers during a critical time in my music education. The compositions and performances on 'Heavy Weather' still move me, and the production, performances, and songs on 'Off the Wall' and 'All 'N All' are second to none. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Stillness and Being Reprised (feat. Gerard Presencer & Jazzie B)” This track was first released in a more intimate form on my album 'The Long Way Home'. This version features my friend and mentor Jazzie B reading a poem by Arik Raviv. All proceeds from this track go to non profit, Breathe Arts Health Research. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I had the pleasure and privilege of joining the 60s/70s band Traffic for their reunion tour in 1994. We did 88 dates across the USA and Europe, performing at Woodstock '94 in front of 150k people, and doing 10 stadium gigs with the Grateful Dead. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I hope to one day have the opportunity to perform at Ronnie Scotts jazz club in London, UK, perhaps with my 10 piece big band, 'The Jazz Sapiens'.
