Marlowe Carruth

Carruth is a pianist, composer, and educator; her first recording of uplifting music was released in 2016. She grew up with music, although her mother, Cherry Folger, an orchestrator for Terrytoons cartoon studio, had died when Carruth was just four years old. Carruth studied piano and music education at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. She spent most of her adult career playing, singing, and teaching. She didn't begin composing until later, becoming inspired after hearing the music of Tim Janis in a gift shop. Carruth released an EP called Eternal Light in 2016, featuring her own compositions for piano with lush, orchestral accompaniment. The music, in its own way, hints at Carruth's admiration for the music of Debussy, Chopin, and John Williams. ~ Patsy Morita
