Singer and musician Mark Harrington stepped into the world of professional music in the late '80s. The place was Toronto, Canada, and the group was called Heik and the Shakes, a threesome that played electronic rock. After earning a little expertise at his craft, and doing one album with the act, Harrington left the safety of a group to go solo. He went on to complete a number of albums and music videos. Harrington's debut offering, Chaos Theory, hit the market on cassette in 1989. Between 1990 and 1994, the debut was followed by a number of other cassettes and albums, including Help Yourself, Small, Capricorn Flakes, and Lather Rinse Repeat. There was a three-year break before the release of Tale of Two Cities. Two more years went by, and then Trash Icon appeared in 1999. Harrington's tunes are a mixture of many musical styles that have influenced him during his lifetime, including punk and alternative rock. "Promise to Myself," "Heads You Lose," "Transmission," "Chain Letter," "Different Steps," "Dream Underground," and "The Last Thing I Need," are some of the tracks fans can sample on his albums. ~ Charlotte Dillon
