About Mags Duval

A pop vocalist with a contemporary sound but a retro sensibility, Mags Duval was still in her teens when she made her first stab at stardom. Duval was born in 1998, and grew up in Clearwater, Florida. She began writing songs when she was only nine years old, and learned to play guitar on an acoustic she found at a flea market for $50. When she was 13, Duval cut a demo at a local recording studio that led to music business interest, taking her to New York City for the first time. While supportive of her talent and drive, Duval's parents wanted her to grow up with a normal childhood, and young Mags grew up dividing her time between school, friends, and a budding career. After she attended several songwriting sessions in Nashville, Tennessee, Mags and her family moved to the Music City in 2012, and she landed her first management and publishing deal in 2013. In 2016, Duval teamed with producers Luke Laird and John Hill, who were behind the controls for her debut single, "Stay Lonely." The song developed a following on streaming services, and it was soon followed by the tracks "Cinnamon Gum," "Pink Cadillac," and "Plain Jane." A full-length album from Duval was expected by the end of 2017. ~ Mark Deming
