Lucienne Renaudin Vary

French trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary can be called a prodigy, making major concert appearances in French venues throughout her teenage years and releasing her first major label album at 18. Her training and her debut album have been notable for their mixture of classical, jazz, and pop repertory. Vary matriculated at first as a classical trumpet student, but in 2017 she added jazz and improvisation to her studies. Vary's strong competition showings began in 2010, and she started appearing at festivals in 2012. She has divided her time roughly equally between classical and jazz appearances. In 2013 Vary made her recording debut on an album by Guy Touvron. In 2017 she issued her solo debut, The Voice of the Trumpet. ~ James Manheim
