Blues singer/songwriter Laurence Jones first picked up a guitar at the age of 12; by the age of 19, he had already embarked on a professional recording career. While growing up in Stratford-upon-Avon, Jones was guided toward the guitar by his father, who encouraged him to practice for over two hours a day. As a result, just seven years later in 2012, Jones signed to Promise Records and released his debut album, Thunder in the Sky. Around the same time, Jones was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, but it didn't deter him from pursuing a career in music. As a testament to his determination, he accepted the support slot for Walter Trout's 2013 U.K. tour the year after his diagnosis. The following year, Jones signed to Ruf Records shortly before releasing his sophomore album, Temptation. Jones' second album garnered him recognition at the British Blues Awards, where he won Young Artist of the Year in 2014. Not one to rest on his laurels, Jones released his third studio album, What's It Gonna Be, in 2015, followed swiftly by his fourth album a year later. Take Me High was Jones' most accomplished record to date, featuring acclaimed producer Mike Vernon (David Bowie, Eric Clapton) behind the mixing desk. For the remainder of 2016 Jones toured extensively, appearing at blues festivals throughout Europe. He returned in 2017 with the full-length effort The Truth. ~ Liam Martin
