About Kyle Taylor Parker

With a vocal tone that's both rich and bright, Kyle Taylor Parker emerged on Broadway in the 2010s, originating roles in Kinky Boots and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He made his solo recording debut in 2019 with the covers album Broadway Soul, Vol. 1. A fan of musical theater from childhood, Parker grew up in Wisconsin listening to Broadway cast albums and Motown Records. He was cast in regional theater productions of shows like Hair and Dreamgirls and joined the national touring company of In the Heights before making his Broadway debut in April 2013, when he originated the role of Angel in Kinky Boots. Parker went on to perform the lead, Lola, on the first national tour of the show before replacing Billy Porter as Lola on Broadway in 2015. In April of 2017, he was part of the original Broadway cast of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which opened in New York shortly after closing in the West End. Later that year, he performed a track on Wish: The Anderson & Petty Holiday Album (Barry Anderson and Mark Petty), and in 2018, he was a member of the ensemble of NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert. Combining his love of show tunes and soul music on his solo recording debut, Parker's Broadway Soul, Vol. 1 arrived on Broadway Records in 2019. ~ Marcy Donelson
