About Kelly Johnson
The 1998 release of Make Someone Happy by the Chartmaker label was the recording debut of a bright new jazz singer, Kelly Johnson. On the set, Johnson displays her abilities to swing, scat and uplift ballads. She was born and raised in the Midwest, gigged early on in Milwaukee and studied theory under trumpeter Brian Lynch (who would later appear on her debut CD). Kelly Johnson eventually moved to Seattle where she became a major part of the jazz scene in the 1990's. ~ Scott Yanow
