About JPNSGRLS

Formed in 2010, indie rockers JPNSGRLS (pronounced "Japanese girls") create wiry, danceable rock from their home base of Vancouver, British Columbia. The band was founded by guitarist Oliver Mann and singer Charlie Kerr, who recruited a rhythm section consisting of bassist Chris McClelland and drummer Graham Serl into the fold, solidifying a lineup that had already grabbed the attention of of Light Organ Records. JPNSGRLS draw from indie rock greats like Modest Mouse and Spoon, combining twisting, intricate guitar work, bouncing rhythms, and raw, emotive vocals to create a sound designed to get the listener moving. The band debuted this angular sound in 2013 with The Sharkweek EP. A full-length, Circulation, followed shortly afterward, arriving in 2014. ~ Gregory Heaney
