About Joey Mustain

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. In the summer before 9th grade, my mom made me try choir. She said if I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t have to do it again after my freshman year. I got hooked, and that changed my life. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Brandon Lake, COAT OF MANY COLORS Dave Matthews Band, Under the Table and Dreaming Jars of Clay, Jars of Clay It’s hard to find a total “10” album, but these three are among the few. Just push play and sit back. They each shaped something meaningful in how I write, play, and sing. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Lay Down Your Head (Stella's Lullaby)” I wrote this after my wife and I heard the news about our child. I sang to my wife’s belly and fell more in love with the life we have together. With the ink long-dried on hundreds of songs from my pen, I’m glad this one’s been on here the longest. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Of all the stages I’ve stood on, singing on stage with my Vocal Union brothers in Lusaka, Zambia, is the best moment so far. Zambia is the epicenter of beautiful a cappella music, and that they wanted to hear us still blows my mind. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to take my music to a full house at the Ryman.
