Joan Ambrosio Dalza

Italian composer, arranger and lutenist who set Petrucci's "Intabolatura de lauto libro quarto". Dalza took this opportunity to experiment with innovations in the tablature settings and presented the music in such a form as to render it almost entirely instrumental. It is the first work to employ the pavana and indications as to how various pieces should be combined. Modes, harmonies and melodies were structurally quite similar. ~ Keith Johnson
