About J. D. Overdrive

Though their sound is rooted in the swampy sludge of southern metal, J.D. Overdrive were formed in Katowice, Poland in 2007. Formerly known as Jack Daniels Overdrive before changing the name for legal reasons, the band has a sound reminiscent of bands like Down and Black Label Society, focusing on big, dirty riffs and loose grooves to bring the heaviness. Guitarist Michael "Stamp" Stemplowski initially recruited a lineup consisting of bassist Cuba "Oldboy" Pawlewski, singer Wojciech "Gopher" Puddle, and drummer Maciej "Luxury" Rutkowski, who appeared the band's 2009 EP, Concentrated Evil. A lineup shift the following year would see Oldboy and Luxury leaving the band with Luke "Peo" Pomietlo and Luke "Joorek" Jurewicz taking their places, respectively. J.D. Overdrive would make their full-length debut in 2011 with Sex, Whiskey & Southern Blood. Their sophomore effort, Fortune Favors the Brave, followed in 2013. ~ Gregory Heaney
