About Harrison Whitford

A Los Angeles-based alt-folk singer/songwriter of gentle poignancy and emotional candor, Harrison Whitford's music fuses pop smarts with a rugged, organic feel that echoes forebears like Paul Westerberg and Elliott Smith, two of his acknowledged heroes. After building his reputation as Phoebe Bridgers' guitarist and longtime collaborator, he stepped out on his own with 2018's Afraid of Everything. Born in Boston, Whitford eventually made his way to Los Angeles, where he balanced his own budding career as a songwriter with collaborations and studio work. A close friend of fellow singer/songwriter Phoebe Bridgers, he spent several years recording and writing with her and was featured on her 2017 breakout album, Stranger in the Alps. Meanwhile, Whitford had been gigging and recording his own material and made his solo debut in 2018 with the self-released Afraid of Everything LP. A mix of stripped-down acoustic material and atmospheric production, the album earned critical acclaim and was re-released in 2019 by British imprint Screwdriver Records. ~ Timothy Monger
