About Golf Alpha Bravo

Golf Alpha Bravo is the solo project of Australian vocalist and guitarist Gab Winterfield, who is a member of the neo-psychedelia-laced dance-rock crew Jagwar Ma. 2020's Sundog, his debut album under the moniker, augments Jagwar Ma's groove-laden sound with elements of bluesy surf rock and soulful, melancholic indie-pop. Growing up in Sydney, Winterfield signed his first record deal at the age of 16 with his band Ghostwood. Employing an evocative blend of ambient alternative rock, shoegaze, and post-rock, the band issued an EP in 2006 and landed a hit with the single "Red Version" before officially calling it quits in 2011. One of the groups that Ghostwood would occasionally play with was Lost Valentinos, which featured multi-instrumentalist and producer Jono Ma. Shortly after Ghostwood's dissolution, Winterfield teamed up with Ma for a new project that looked to emulate the baggy, psych-tinged alt-rock of the Stone Roses and early Primal Scream. Jagwar Ma released their debut album, Howlin', in 2013, with a sophomore effort, Every Now & Then, which arrived three years later. In 2019 Winterfield began operating under the nom de plume Golf Alpha Bravo and released a string of singles that married the blissed-out groove-rock of Jagwar Ma with hazy, stripped-down Jimi Hendrix and John Frusciante-leaning surf rock. Those songs would appear on Golf Alpha Bravo's full-length debut, Sundog, in 2020. ~ James Christopher Monger
