About Gabriel Fauré
French composer Gabriel Fauré wrote with long, sinuous melodic lines and delicately shifting harmonies to create music with an exquisite, unique sound that presaged that of Debussy and Ravel and influenced many of his students at the Paris Conservatoire. Après un rêve and Clair de Lune are the most famous of his mélodies or songs, his most important works. Among his other significant works are the well-loved setting of Requiem, the Piano Quartet No. 1 and piano quintets, the incidental music for Pelléas et Mélisande, the Pavane for orchestra and chorus, and the suite for piano duet, Dolly.
