About Esbjörn Svensson

Pianist and composer Esbjörn Svensson looms among the most influential and innovative figures in contemporary jazz, drawing on inspirations from Baroque to techno to create a body of work that has earned both commercial and critical approval. He founded E.S.T. (Esbjorn Svensson Trio) with drummer Magnus Öström and bassist Dan Berglund, and they made their recorded debut with 1993's When Everyone Has Gone. Four albums later, 2003's Seven Days of Falling topped Norway's jazz and pop charts. 2005's Viaticum received laudatory reviews from the international rock and jazz press, allowing for them to tour the U.S. Following the completion of Leucocyte in spring 2008, Svensson was killed in a diving accident. The album was released in September. Four years later, ACT released 301, a standalone E.S.T. album recorded during the same sessions as Leucocyte. In 2022, a collection of completed piano works was released as HOME.S.
