In the tradition of Captain Beefheart, the Slits, and the Fall, Erase Errata mix improvisational and noise elements with punky, New Wave-influenced pop songs. The band formed in 1999 in Oakland, California with the original lineup of singer and multi-instrumentalist Jenny Hoyston, lead guitarist Sara Jaffe, bassist Ellie Erickson, and drummer Bianca Sparta. Jaffee left after two albums, 2001's OTHER ANIMALS and 2003's AT CRYSTAL PALACE. The 2006 album NIGHTLIFE, Erase Errata's debut as a trio, found them signed to the Kill Rock Stars label.
