Depeche Mode, Violator Hole, Live Through This R.E.M., Green (Remastered 2013) Wonderful albums that I come back to again and again. These three have had a huge influence on the formation of my musical tastes and my own song-writing. All are packed with fantastic tracks. Tell us why you chose this song. “Lifeboats” Lifeboats is a song about loneliness and alienation, about feeling alone in a city full of people. I had been experimenting with writing in different modes, dorian in this case. I am drawn to sounds that are in between major and minor.
