About Eden Mulholland

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. The earliest memory I have is listening to my Mum singing Joan Armatrading songs, especially from Walk Under Ladders. Dad was in a band called The Wait and we listened to James Taylor, Muddy Waters, Ry Cooder. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Radiohead, In Rainbows Ry Cooder, Paris, Texas (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) Soundtrack from the Motion Picture The Strokes, Is This It I've been a radiohead fan since I missed seeing them in Christchurch in the 90's, my parents got to see them on the Pablo Honey tour dammit. Is this It is utterly brilliant, sublime songwriting. Paris Texas is my go-to mood setter. Instant atmos Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Nothing Stands In the Way” I love this song because it feels like it magically wrote itself. As if it flew out of the sky into my brain and into the guitar. I live for that feeling as a composer. When a song comes as a gift from somewhere you can't put your finger on What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I composed music for the FIFA Womens World Cup Opening Ceremony 2023. Held at Eden Park in Auckland and broadcast to millions around the world, it's easily the largest audience to my music ever. Quite a spectacle! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to compose music for feature film. I want to see Beirut live again. I want to hear Carmina Burana live. I want to compose for Bangarra. I want to perform live with an orchestra at the Sydney Opera House. I want to open for David Byrne
