About Department of Eagles

Department of Eagles started in 2000 in an NYU dorm room, where roommates Fred Nicolaus and Daniel Rossen took their shared interest in music-making one step further. Aided by stolen software and borrowed equipment, the two began hammering out a layered and personal, typically hushed sound that would eventually come in focus on their 2003 debut, THE COLD NOSE. In 2004, Daniel joined the popular group Grizzly Bear, while continuing to make Eagles music with Fred, sometimes via email. IN EAR PARK (2008), released on the venerable 4AD label, was produced by Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor, and features Nat Baldwin on double bass.
