Scottish indie pop band Butcher Boy takes notes from Tindersticks, Belle and Sebastian, the Left Banke, and Love for their crushed chamber pop, augmenting gentle melodic tunes with orchestral strings and brass arrangements. Based around the poetic songs of guitarist/vocalist/founder John Blain Hunt, Butcher Boy released new music intermittently, beginning with his 2007 debut full-length Profit in Your Poetry and continuing with sporadic new material over the next ten years. In 2022, the anthology compilation You Had a Kind Face collected highlights from the band's discography and included three new, previously unreleased songs.
