About Bryan Ferry

Bryan Ferry launched an unsuccessful bid to become King Crimson’s lead singer before forming Roxy Music with a member of his previous band, The Gas Board. ∙ All of Roxy Music’s studio albums hit the Top 10 in the UK, with Stranded, Flesh + Blood, and Avalon reaching No. 1. ∙ Roxy Music has influenced dozens of artists, including U2, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, and Talking Heads. ∙ Nile Rodgers formed legendary disco band Chic after seeing Roxy Music perform, telling bassist Bernard Edwards afterward, “Man, we got to do the Black version of this.” ∙ In Lost in Translation, director Sofia Coppola, a fan of Ferry’s, had Bill Murray’s character perform a karaoke version of Roxy Music’s “More Than This.” ∙ As a solo artist, Ferry has collaborated with members of Eurythmics, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Smiths. ∙ In 2011, he became a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, a prestigious honor given by the Queen. ∙ His iconic style has inspired collections by multiple fashion designers and earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award from GQ. ∙ Roxy Music was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
