Black Pearl

Guitarists Bruce Benson, Jeff Mackay Morris and Jerry Causi (bass) - three former members of Boston-based punk band the Barbarians - formed the core of this act in 1967. Having moved to San Francisco that year, the group became a popular live attraction, garnering positive reviews for their hard-edged debut, which drew favourable comparisons with the MC5. Live At The Fillmore showed their power undiminished, although the set also revealed a one-dimensional quality to their work. Unable to make a commercial breakthrough, Black Pearl broke up soon afterwards.
