About Ben Johnson

British tenor Ben Johnson attended the Royal College of Music, where he graduated in 2006, and went on to pursue his craft at the RCM's Benjamin Britten International Opera School. The winner of many vocal prizes, Johnson has been honored at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards, the Gerald Moore Award, and the Wigmore Hall International Song Competition. Johnson made his operatic debut in 2005 in Handel's Rodelinda, and followed it with performances in Mozart's Don Giovanni, Britten's Albert Herring, Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress, and Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and The Fairy Queen. He joined the National Opera Studio in 2008. Johnson has also performed in oratorios and other concert works, and he has appeared in recitals with James Southall, Roger Vignoles, Graham Johnson, and Malcolm Martineau. He has recorded for Champs Hill Records, Signum Classics, Chandos, Opus Arte, and Hyperion. ~ Blair Sanderson
