About Ben Arthur
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Another memory is listening to Tori Amos's "Little Earthquakes" for the first time on headphones in my college dorm room - I remember thinking, "Man, I will NEVER make anything this breathtakingly beautiful!" (Still true) What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Aimee Mann, Mental Illness Elliott Smith, Xo Father John Misty, Pure Comedy All three of these albums make me JEALOUS. The writing, the performances, the sheer brilliance off the song-concepts. I want to make music this gooooood Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “If You Need Me” I wrote this for an episode of my podcast, SongWriter, in response to a short story by MacArthur genius and bestselling author George Saunders. You can listen to a song written by Amanda Shires, and to George's story, on season 3, episode 8! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I've been a crazy Pink Floyd fan since forever, and I got a chance to interview David Gilmour, and to share a song I wrote in response to a novel by his wife Polly, last year: podcasts.apple.com/se/podcast/polly-samson-david-gilmour/id1462815615 Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'd love to do a tour opening for another artist! Putting it out there in the universe :)
