About Anzenchitai
Anzenchitai evolved out of a high school garage band called Invader, which was formed in Japan in 1973. ∙ In 1981, Anzenchitai were hired by popular Japanese singer-songwriter Yosui Inoue to be his backing band. ∙ “Wine Red No Kokoro” was the band’s first big hit, topping the Japanese charts in 1984. ∙ Their song “Suki Sa” was featured as an opening theme for the ’80s anime series Maison Ikkoku. ∙ Frontman Koji Tamaki has enjoyed a successful solo career, including his massive 1996 hit, “Den-En,” which sold nearly 1 million copies. ∙ Tamaki has appeared as an actor in numerous Japanese films and TV shows, including the 2013 miniseries Tokyo Bandwagon. ∙ Anzenchitai reunited in 2010, and their single “Aoi Bara/Wine Red No Kokoro” gave them their first Top 10 hit since 1988’s “Hohoemi ni Kanpai.”
