About Antoinette

Marie Antoinette Daly was only 13 years old when she cut her debut record for Decca in 1963. "Jenny Let Him Go" was a tough-sounding Spector-style production with a glistening British beat. Despite those attributes, it failed to sell, which resulted in her being dropped by the label. Five more singles followed for the Pye label, and Antoinette made a jump to EMI's Columbia label in 1966, where she recorded under the name Toni Daly. Her first love ultimately proved to be jazz, which shaped her repertory as an adult singer under her married name of Toni Baxter. ~ Bruce Eder
