Texas-based songwriter/rapper/vocalist Alex Harris began making music while studying at Texas State University in San Marcos. Harris struggled in these early days with both finding his sound and getting his music heard, moving back and forth between Long Beach, California and Houston, Texas as he developed a style of laid-back, R&B-inflected hip-hop. Fiercely independent, Harris insisted on promoting his own concerts rather than open shows for other artists, building a loyal local fan base in a grassroots manner. After landing back in Dallas, around 2016 Harris released several singles that followed his early mixtape releases, including the swaggering, moody "Gravy" and the more trap-informed "Better Tomorrows." In 2017 he released the EP Foolish, a seven-song collection featuring production on some tracks by Nate Coop and DSII. ~ Fred Thomas
