About Albert Franz Doppler

Debuting at the age of 13, Albert Franz Doppler was a successful flutist, composer and conductor. Pest became his home after working with the German Theatre and the Hungarian National Theatre. Doppler's primary genre was opera though chamber pieces and works for the piano forte were also composed by him. His music contains aspects of Russian and Hungarian music and his primary influence in the establishment of The Hungarian Philharmonic Orchestra is noteworthy. As an adept orchestrator, Doppler arranged Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodies. His operas included "Judith" (his only German opera), and a Russian work entitled "Benyovsky". ~ Keith Johnson
