After the dissolution of the influential Georgia psych-pop outfit Neutral Milk Hotel, drummer Jeremy Barnes teamed with violinist Heather Trost to form the indie-folk duo A Hawk & A Hacksaw. Since 2002, the group has released four LPs worth of meditative, largely instrumental music notable for its loose improvisational aesthetic and its indebtedness to Eastern European folk traditions.
