Editors' Notes While Russian producer DJ Vadim made his name in the ’90s with blunted hip-hop instrumentals, his Dubcatcher series is a deep dive into reggae. Like its predecessors, Vol. 3<.I> boasts a global roster of vocal talent and an omnivorous appetite for different styles and eras. Major Lazer’s Mr. Lexx brings bumblebee bounce to the minimalist synths and trim delay of “Dead 2 Us,” while Ward 21’s Suku uses his gravelly drawl to drag “Talk 2 Me Propa” even deeper into the bassy murk. “Nuff Years,” featuring Ras Demo’s double-time chat, splits the difference between ragga and jungle. But “Only Jah Knows” summons the sweetness of ’70s reggae, while the horn-led “Corrupted” conjures an even more dulcet one-drop vibe.
