With his second solo outing, The Wallflowers’ Jakob Dylan made the 2 a.m. country album he always seemed to have in him. T Bone Burnett gives Dylan's songs a sombre touch that’s just lush enough without getting overbearing, piling on backing vocals from Neko Case on the dejected, fiddle-laden "Nothing But the Whole Wide World”. There’s a cinematic sweep to Dylan's portrait of despair on "We Don't Live Here Anymore", while "Lend a Hand" is a lurching, mutant-blues romp worthy of Tom Waits.
