Recorded mostly at home over three years, William Doyle’s debut album as East India Youth is rich with electronic serenades and seances alike. The compositions range from instrumentals (the three-part title track) to a cappella (“Looking for Someone”), while fluidly incorporating ambient and classical motifs. On “Hinterland”, Doyle also proves his knack for uptempo dance missives. Smooth and stately yet pulsing throughout with computerised textures, these soundtrack-like pieces pay no mind to the tyranny of genre limitations.
