It’s not easy compiling the highs from Glenn Frey’s solo career because he had so many. Culled from his first five solo albums, this set mixes faraway-sax melancholy (“You Belong to the City”, “River of Dreams”) with the soulful rock ’n’ rollers (“This Way to Happiness”, “Part of Me, Part of You”) that mostly defined Frey’s post-Eagles career. “Call on Me”, “Who’s Been Sleeping in My Bed” and “The One You Love” show Frey’s blue-eyed soul side, while “Smuggler’s Blues” and “The Heat Is On” are the definition of sleek, ‘80s-radio pop-rock.
