12 Songs, 39 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

“I been away for a while,” reminds James Devlin on the title track. “Cause sh*t weren’t sweet like Tate & Lyle, I held it together with the fakest smile.” The Londoner’s third album reveals a more mature MC—one bruised and hardened by his industry and able to now lace his venomous bars with engaging regret and maturity. He’s heartbroken for a lost love on “Blue Skies”, while Skepta collaboration “50 Grand” is the sort of insidious banger that’s helped elevate grime.

Grime is back!

True to the Grime scene as always refusing to cross over to the commercial Grime that so many are
Been a long time coming and has not disappointed at all.

Best thing I've downloaded

An album where each and every single song is individual and contains intelligent lyrics to tell powerful stories. Dev is incomparable to other grime artists around today who sell the genre itself to feature in tracks with pop artists etc and seem to be bitten with the commerce bug. His music is respectable for that in itself, but continues to be consistently incredible in its own merit. Never been disappointed by anything this man has produced.
