EDITORS’ NOTES

After winning the eighth season of American Idol, Kris Allen had less than six months before his self-titled debut came out. Nearly two and a half years later, the talented singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist releases the follow-up, with the extra studio time put to excellent use. Thank You Camellia, which is Mastered for iTunes, offers a broad range of styles, from the happy pop of the opening track, “Better With You,” to big, electro-tinged numbers like “The Vision of Love” and “Out Alive,” which recalls The Joshua Tree–era U2. The deluxe version comes with three bonus tracks—the bright-sounding “Turn the Pages,” the group sing-along candidate “Fighters,” and the Maison and Dragen Radio Remix of “The Vision of Love”—plus iTunes LP.
