Since recording the first Taake demo in 1995, Norwegian black metal musician Ørjan “Hoest” Stedjeberg has played almost all the instruments and performed all the vocals throughout his lengthy discography. Taake’s seventh full-length revisits the imagery and spirit of that demo—a solitary figure in the snow creating his own grim squall of frostbitten darkness. Alternately melodic and discordant, triumphant and despondent, Norwegian-language tracks like “Sverdets Vei”, “Inntrenger” and “Maanebrent” paint a bleak and jagged portrait of man struggling to survive in a harsh environment.
