14 Songs, 1 Hour 9 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

After the fizzing energy of their debut, Suede tumble into darkness. Dog Man Star indulges self-loathing, paranoia, failing love and addiction–and sounds magnificent for it. It’s often brilliantly overblown: the proggy “The Asphalt World” clocks in at nearly ten minutes and “The Next Life” employs a full orchestra. But outsider anthems “Heroine” and the optimistic “The Power” are consumingly melodic, while “The Wild Ones” synthesizes virtuoso playing and a crumbling psyche into arguably their finest five minutes.

B-Sides......A Grade

The early EP's on the b-sides album are some of the best pop music every written, edgy and dripping with attitude. In their day, these guys just blew everyone off the planet in my opinion. One of the greatest british bands in the past 30 years

Amazing Suede

I totally agree with JohnF04. The first two albums AND their 'B' sides from the same period are masterpieces. To call songs like 'Where the Pigs don't Fly' a 'B side' is an insult really. They're are totally awesome. Suede live are amazing to, truly one of the best live band even now. This album, The first album and Sci Fi Lullabies B Sides Album are essential listening.

Masterpiece

An amazing masterpiece of an album. Pantomime horse is just beautiful, moving and perfectly crafted. Suede seem to have been forgotten by the media, or even the whole country, maybe becuase they made a couple of duff albums at the end. I feel sad that they have been written out of music history, because this album and their debut album can still take you to places that not many bands go.
