10 Songs, 47 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Grown-out hair, tattoos, and an appetite for destructive hedonism recast Dave Gahan as snake-hipped rock deity in time for the release of Depeche Mode’s eighth album, and the rumbling bass and squalling guitars of “Walking in My Shoes” gave him an anthem to go with his new image. There’s also pronounced evangelical passion in a set of songs that obsess over sin, redemption, and judgement—from “Condemnation”’s goth-gospel to the choral electronica of “Judas”.

Brilliant

Simply, not a single tune on this album that falls short! Had this many years ago: but had forgotten how superb this was; rarely rate or review albums but felt a compulsion where this was concerned. Just Brilliant!

So Many Memories

I was given a CD version of this 24 years ago. 20 years have passed since I last listened to it. Tonight I bought the online copy and listening to it has made me step back in time to 24 years ago. Dark Music for a Dark Period in my life. The very best DP Album EVER !! ❤️

The Golden-Child

Probrably the most played album in my collection. MLG's songwriting at it's finest, this is a beautifully cratfed album from start to euphoric finish. Unquestionably among DM's finest work, only (possibly) bettered by Ultra.
