Brexit Blues

Mode return with an album packed with crisp analogue sonics with knob twiddling from Simian Mobile Disco supremo James Ford who has steered the band away from the distorted blues and muddy production of previous albums. Politically charged from the word go, Mode hold no prisoners with a collection of songs that ranks as their best and most cohesive album since 1997’s ‘Ultra’. Tunes to fall in love with instantly include ‘Scum’ (destined to be the next single) which is one of the band’s strongest tunes since ‘It’s No Good’, ‘Cover Me’ which morphs into a glorious and pulsating synth instrumental but like nothing you’ve heard from the band before, ‘So Much Love’ (a future live fave) and the ode to ‘austerity’ - ‘Poorman’ which harks back to the attack on capitalism with 1983’s ‘Everything Counts’. Of course, the sublime production on this album will all sound better on the vinyl release but in the meantime, grab yourself a copy of this digital delight.

This album reminds me of Construction Time Again and Black Celebration mashed together! It sounds new yet retro at the same time! This album is ridiculously good!
