Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher say they work best in their compact home studio, which makes the airy, filmic nature of their electro-pop more startling. Higham’s falsetto is a beacon of longing emerging from hypnotic ripples of melancholy on “Sorry” and “Waiting”. It’s not all gauzy atmospherics though. Evoking comparisons with James Blake, “Never Hurt Again” heads for the dancefloor with its crisp R&B shuffle and “Never Seen You Get So Low” puts a steady toe-tap into heartache.
