SAVE YOURSELF

SAVE YOURSELF

SBTRKT frames SAVE YOURSELF in terms of oppositions: today's environmental catastrophes versus tomorrow's space colonies. Fittingly, the album flits between twin poles of despair and what he calls "dark optimism", contrasting the evil, skulking techno of "LET THEM IN" with whimsical, organ-kissed funk tracks "GEMINI" and "READY OR NOT". Auto-Tuned crooner The-Dream provides the album's conflicted emotional centre: he radiates joy on "GOOD MORNING", a tender love song to the human race, but on the sombre "BURY YOU" he gives chills with a simple question: "How does it feel to be gone?"
