Something for both casual listener and the collectors

It's difficult to have a collection like this and please everyone, but Defected have done a good mix of the more familiar stuff and a few things for the collectors like myself.

It starts off in the more soulful vein with vocal tracks from Bebe WInans, James Ingram and the seminal collaboration with The Braxtons. There's a good mix of some of the more familiar tracks such as "Love & Happiness (Yemaya Y Ochun)" and "I Can't Get No Sleep". Full marks to Defected for NOT including "To Be In Love", given it's been on practically every single Defected compilation before.

The second half seems to be tailored more for the collectors. A change of pace with the downtempo Debbie Gibson "Losin Myself" Remix, but then a series of Dubs that MAW became famed for (even if, ironically, none of the Dubs included were their key ones).

The downsides...well the copy I downloaded of "The Nervous Track" was taken from a mixed CD. Louie Vega always references the classic dub of Debbie Gibson "One Step Ahead" in his interviews as one of the key MAW pieces (would have been a killer inclusion compared to "Losin Myself" and both were from Warners). And including the Dub over the (classic!) Vocal Mix of Uncanny Alliance is sacrilege.

All in all, Defected have done an excellent job in compiling this, given licensing restrictions and the need to balance the casual listener with the more trainspotter type person.
