EDITORS’ NOTES
Rita Ora’s debut is a muscular, brattish assertion of her star wattage. Once opening track "Facemelt" explodes into life, the pace only really slows from party-to-after-party as the Londoner shows off her box of chart-slaying tricks. There’s a whole clutch of high-end hedonistic pop to energise the deadest party (the Biggie Smalls sampling “How We Do (Party)”, “Fall in Love” featuring a dialed-in will.i.am), but it’s an album mindful to give its star room to show off a legitimately impressive voice. “Been Lying” and “Hello, Hi, Goodbye” both offer modern, impactful takes on heartbreak.
