EDITORS’ NOTES

Confident pop debut with rock ‘n’ reggae inflections from the hat-fond X Factor favourite. Finishing second in Britain’s premier talent show did nothing to dint the popularity of Essex nice-guy Murs, and this is a slick blend of his versatile abilities. At once chirpy (the doo-woppy “Thinking Of Me”), emotional (his soulful rock turn on “Heart On My Sleeve”) and tenacious (the joyfully retro “Please Don’t Let Me Go”), his star power is clear.

Good Work

I'm not really a fan of X Factor (to be honest i hate it) but i didn't mind Olly too much so I thought i'd give this a go.

I was kind of hoping I would be able slate it here in some way however I found myself thoroughly enjoying 80% of it after only the second listen. The value is pretty good also seeing as you get two music videos along with the 12 songs. Respect should also go to Olly for having written a lot of this material himself which is a lot more than can be said for the usual drivel churned out by the X Factor (and most pop artists in general actually)...

So all in all - good work; I'm off to give it a 3rd play through :)
