4 Songs, 15 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Already renowned for their darkly dramatic live shows, rising UK indie rockers Nothing But Thieves offer four melancholy but gripping songs on this debut EP. Like many ambitious young British bands, they've clearly been inspired by Joy Division’s tense, brooding grooves and Radiohead’s intricate but highly melodic riffs. Nothing But Thieves stand apart, however, thanks to the alternately tender and ferocious voice of frontman Conor Mason. He brings a howling intensity to the fractured art-rock of “Itch”, and he’s achingly intimate on slow-burning ballads like “Emergency”.
