For their second full-length album, Texas siblings Tyler and Maggie Heath found their inspiration in fantasy—specifically, an allegorical book about hell (The Screwtape Letters) by author C.S. Lewis. Ghostly characters (“Pale White Horse”; “Soldier, Poet, King”) run roughshod through the songs, and the Heaths match these spectral visions with enchanting, multi-layered arrangements that hover between folk fragility and grandiose post-rock. The results feel like a childhood reverie brought to life.
