EDITORS’ NOTES

On their covers-heavy EP, Curse Your Little Heart, Denver-based gypsy-folk troubadours DeVotchKa nod to their many influences while demonstrating exactly what makes them so unique. They bring a wispy acoustic strum to Siouxsie & The Banshees’ “The Last Beat of My Heart” before transforming The Velvet Underground’s “Venus In Furs” into a galloping baroque-rock crusade. On the title track—the sole original on the album—the band combine slinky double bass, virtuosic fiddle playing, and passionately delivered vocals into a stunning, delectable concoction.
